Below are some answers to frequently asked questions:
How much are your services?
A standard price list for our various services is shown on our prices page. As each project is unique there may occasionally be the need to adjust prices slightly once the full spec of your project is understood. All our quotes are simple with no hidden extras.
How are project payments made?
We ask for a 33% deposit up front, 33% prior to filming then the balancing payment prior to final video release.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel to/from locations within a 20 mile radius from Preston, Lancashire is free of charge. Travel is then charged at £0.40p per mile for all additional mileage.
Can anybody operate a drone?
For Commercial drone operations it is illegal to operate a drone without a formal CAA PfCO license and full drone insurance cover. You should always ask your drone operator to confirm and show these documents before hiring them.
What are the most common legal restrictions when operating a drone commercially?
It is a legal requirement to carry out a highly detailed review of weather, airport restrictions, local restrictions and specific flight restrictions to ensure safe and legal drone use. Detailed risk assessments are also carried out before and during each drone flight. See also “Can the drone fly in any weather?” and “Can the drone be flown anywhere?” below.
Can the drone fly in any weather?
No. Weather conditions must always be carefully assessed to ensure safe and legal flying within the manufacturer’s limits. The two most common factors are (a) cannot be flown in strong winds greater than 25mph and (b) cannot be flown during rain.
Can the drone be flown anywhere?
No. There are careful and specific legal restrictions to ensure permissions from and safety to people, buildings, vehicles and vessels within a 50m radius. We manage this carefully to ensure full compliance at all times.
Do you offer refunds if it is not possible to use the drone due to eg bad weather?
If your event is restricted to a single date and cannot be re-arranged (eg a wedding or special event) then a full no-hassle refund will be made. In all other events a revised date will be arranged with you.
Is flying with a drone safe?
Whilst nothing can ever be guaranteed as “100% safe” we take safety extremely seriously and have a perfect safety record with our drone. A full and detailed risk assessment is carried out both before and during each flight with a trained and CAA PfCO licensed drone pilot who always ensures highest safety standards are met.
The drone itself is fitted with state of the art collision avoidance sensors above, below and all around with an additional electronic parachute system available for certain situations (eg when flying over people or congested areas) in the (very unlikely) event it is required.
Who owns the final footage?
We think that if you pay for the footage then you should own the rights to the footage. We may however request your permission to use some or all of your footage on our website for promotional purposes.
Do we need to sign a contract?
Yes we ask that you read and sign a contract for each job to ensure that you understand and are in full agreement with all terms and conditions of your proposed project.
What is the lead time of each project?
Each project and therefore leadtime is unique and will be discussed in detail before we begin. We pride ourselves on delivering quality work and will aim to deliver your project as soon as possible. 1 to 2 weeks is a good estimate for most projects.
What is your GDPR policy?
We aim to fully comply with GDPR regulations and will ensure that your personal data is not deliberately shared with any third party.
Is it possible to filter/blur out individual details of eg faces or number plates from videos?
Yes we can do this to ensure discretion or protection of individuals who do not wish to be identified. This is particularly useful for school children with safeguarding issues etc.
Is it possible to review draft footage before final release?
Yes this is part of our standard process for all edited footage other than for our “Family Video Portrait” package (which uses a surprise “reveal” to all family members). It is very important to us that you are totally happy with the end product. A draft review with final edits is therefore a great way to achieve this.
